Flint arrived at New Brighton with a weak squad due to player availability. On arrival New Brighton said they could only pay with a mixed team of 14 and 15 year olds. This mixture proved to strong for an under strength Under 14's Flint side.

The first five minutes Flint held there own but an injury to scrum half Nick Roberts forced him to retire from the game New Brighton took advantage and used there bigger and older players to good advantage. 6 tries and 2 conversions were scored past the Flint side without reply. Late in the first half Flint rallied and almost scored but the ball was dropped just over the try line.

The second half saw Flint come out fighting and there forwards took the game to New Brighton forcing them to make errors on which Flint capitalised. inside centre Chris Bains scored a good solo try (unconverted) and Kieron Jones openside flanker scored from a good forward drive (unconverted). New Brighton replied with two further converted tries.
