History

Deeside and Shotton before their annual Charity Match pre-season 1984

Flint Rugby Club has a history that may be envied by all of the local junior rugby clubs. Not many senior clubs within North Wales and indeed local Cheshire and the Wirral would relish taking on the full 1st XV at home to Flint.

With a reputation for a devestating back row and an incisive back division, an attacking, fast game is what is to be expected. Each of the rugby clubs that have been involved with the formation and advancement of Flint has brought each of these qualities to the fore.

Deeside - ( 01/09/1976 to 30/05/1999 )

 

Whilst not a formative Club with the history of Flint Rugby Club, the majority of the players from Deeside that are still capable of pulling their boots on now turn out for Flint.
The merger between BSC Shotton and Deeside, which resulted in the new Club Afon Dee, proved fruitless in many ways. A large number of players hung up their boots and many solid players were lost to the game. Some stalwarts keep battling on, however,
